Description

4-tert-Butylbenzoic acid is an organic compound with the formula (CH3)3CC6H4COOH. It is a white solid that is soluble in organic solvents. 4-tert-Butylbenzoic acid is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and other organic compounds. It is also used as a monomer in the production of polymers. The compound is synthesized by the reaction of tert-butylbenzene with carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalyst. 4-tert-Butylbenzoic acid has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It is also used in the treatment of certain types of cancer. The compound is being studied for its potential therapeutic applications. Its bulky tert-butyl substituent makes it a useful building block in organic synthesis, and it is commonly used to create chiral auxiliaries and ligands.'
