Description Research Excerpts Clinical Trials Roles Classes Pathways Study Profile Bioassays Related Drugs Related Conditions Protein Interactions Research Growth Market Indicators

2,4',5-trichlorobiphenyl is a highly chlorinated biphenyl (PCB) congener. PCBs were once widely used as dielectric fluids in electrical equipment, plasticizers, and fire retardants, but their production has been banned in most countries due to their persistence in the environment and their toxicity to humans and wildlife. The synthesis of 2,4',5-trichlorobiphenyl involves the reaction of chlorobenzene with a catalyst, such as a Lewis acid, to form a mixture of isomers. 2,4',5-trichlorobiphenyl is a persistent organic pollutant (POP) that bioaccumulates in the food chain. It has been linked to a variety of health problems, including cancer, reproductive disorders, and immune system dysfunction. The compound is studied to understand its environmental fate, toxicology, and potential health risks. It is also used as a marker for PCB contamination in environmental samples.'
