Description Research Excerpts Clinical Trials Roles Classes Pathways Study Profile Bioassays Related Drugs Related Conditions Protein Interactions Research Growth Market Indicators

2'-Chloro-2'-deoxyadenosine (2'-Cl-dAdo) is a synthetic nucleoside analog that has shown promise as an antiviral agent. It is a potent inhibitor of viral DNA polymerases, including those of herpes simplex virus, varicella-zoster virus, and cytomegalovirus. 2'-Cl-dAdo is also a substrate for adenosine deaminase, which converts it to 2'-chloro-2'-deoxyinosine (2'-Cl-dIno). 2'-Cl-dIno is a potent inhibitor of viral RNA polymerases, including those of influenza virus and respiratory syncytial virus. 2'-Cl-dAdo has been studied as a potential treatment for a variety of viral infections, including herpes simplex virus encephalitis, varicella-zoster virus infection, cytomegalovirus retinitis, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus infection.'
