Description

11-hydroxy-delta(8)-tetrahydrocannabinol (11-OH-delta(8)-THC) is a major metabolite of delta(8)-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta(8)-THC), a psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis. It is produced in the liver by the enzyme CYP3A4, and it is believed to be responsible for some of the psychoactive effects of delta(8)-THC. 11-OH-delta(8)-THC has been shown to have a higher affinity for the cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1) than delta(8)-THC itself. This may explain why 11-OH-delta(8)-THC is thought to be more potent than delta(8)-THC. 11-OH-delta(8)-THC is also a potent inhibitor of the enzyme fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), which is involved in the breakdown of anandamide, an endocannabinoid. This may contribute to the psychoactive effects of 11-OH-delta(8)-THC. 11-OH-delta(8)-THC is being studied for its potential therapeutic uses. For example, it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. It is also being investigated for its potential to treat conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and chronic pain. 11-OH-delta(8)-THC is a complex and poorly understood compound. More research is needed to fully understand its effects and potential uses.'
