dafachronic acids
Any of a family of steroid acids derived from sterols by oxidation with a cytochrome p450 that bind and activate the orphan nuclear receptor DAF-12 in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Note that the singular term 'dafachronic acid' has been used as a synonym for the (non-natural) fully saturated (5alpha,25S)-3-oxocholestan-26-oic acid.
